Open court directs for reducing inflated and detection bills

LARKANA: On the directions of Federal Ombudsman Aijaz Ahmed Qureshi, Regional Head, Sukkur, Syed Mahmood Ali Shah, held an open court meeting at the office of Provincial Ombudsman here on Wednesday and heard complaints against the federal government departments including SEPCO.

The open court was attended by SEPCO Revenue Officers of Larkana and Kambar-Shahdadkot. The complainants attended the open court in large numbers and most of the complaints were against WAPDA and Power Distributing Companies of inflated monthly electricity bills, extra charging of unlawful detection bills and over-reading.

After examining the complaints the Regional Head gave a decision on 30 complaints which mostly belonged to SEPCO Shaikh Zayed Sub-Division’s meter reader Ghulam Mustafa Dayo. The Regional Head directed the SEPCO higher authorities to take stern action against Dayo within 30 days and report compliance. He further directed to issue proper bills after deducting illegal extra detection charges and over-billing within 30 days or else the matter will be referred to the Federal Ombudsman for taking strict action against the negligence officers. He said that the federal ombudsman wants to dispense justice to every poor without delay.
