Zubair Tufail, President of the United Business Group (UBG) and former President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), commended the recent visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan to Saudi Arabia and the resulting mutual defense agreement. Under this agreement, an attack on Saudi Arabia will be considered an attack on Pakistan.
Zubair Tufail indicated that this visit further strengthened the long-standing relationship between the two countries. The signed agreements and memorandums will increase mutual trust and establish a framework for broader bilateral trade, economic cooperation, investment, and joint ventures.
Highlighting current trade figures, he stated that Saudi Arabia’s total foreign direct investment (FDI) in Pakistan is US$74.5 million. Pakistan’s imports from Saudi Arabia are US$4.5 billion, while exports reach US$710 million. Zubair Tufail advocated for stronger connections between the business sectors of both countries through their respective federations. He advised holding single-country exhibitions in each other’s markets.
Zubair Tufail expressed hope that this renewed commitment will lead to a significant increase in bilateral trade and investment in the coming years. A strong economic and trade partnership will benefit both countries and contribute to regional stability and economic growth. He said that Pakistan’s military and political leaders are united in achieving national development, and the business sector is fully supporting them. The UBG and FPCCI pledged their full support for private sector engagement and government initiatives promoting deeper business cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
