Pakistan has formally invited Saudi Arabian investment into four major national infrastructure projects, including key motorways and a strategic tourism road, while assuring its full backing for the Kingdom”s candidacy in the upcoming International Maritime Organization (IMO) elections.

According to an official report today, the proposals were presented during a meeting between Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, and Saudi Arabia”s Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Aljasser. The discussion took place on the sidelines of the Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference (PIMEC 2025) in Karachi.

Mr. Khan detailed the investment opportunities, specifically identifying the M-6 Motorway (Sukkur-Hyderabad), M-10 Motorway (Hyderabad-Karachi Port), M-13 Motorway (Kharian-Rawalpindi), and the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad-Chilas (MNJC) Road. He noted the MNJC project is a commercially attractive venture due to its tourism potential.

The Pakistani minister briefed the Saudi official on the country”s expanding road network, stating that the Ministry of Communications and the National Highway Authority (NHA) are focused on new motorway projects designed to connect northern regions with major economic centers and enhance regional trade.

He described Pakistan”s road infrastructure as self-sustaining, supported by an effective toll system that contributes to maintenance and development. Mr. Khan also noted that the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement (SMDA) between the two countries has created a broader framework for collaboration.

In response to the investment pitch, Engineer Aljasser sought Pakistan’s support for Saudi Arabia in the forthcoming IMO elections, a request to which Pakistan affirmed its full support. The Saudi minister appreciated Pakistan’s development work and offered assistance and partnership in technology, road safety, and logistics projects.

The meeting concluded with the Saudi official extending an invitation to Mr. Aleem Khan for a future visit to the Kingdom, with both parties expressing a desire for continued and frequent engagement.
