Dr. Sahibzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair, the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan and the Milli Yakjehti Council, has issued a stern warning that “global imperialism” is conspiring to once again plunge Pakistan into the fire of war, which he described as having “extremely dangerous consequences”.
In a statement on Wednesday, Zubair expressed deep concern that a new conflict is being imposed on the nation while it has not yet recovered from the effects of the previous Pak-Afghan war. He lamented the continuous loss of life, saying, “We are tired of picking up the bodies of our police and army personnel and innocent civilians of the region every day.”
He made a strong appeal for diplomacy, stating that “For God’s sake, both countries should show seriousness and resolve their differences through dialogue.”
Zubair also highlighted significant internal and external security challenges and said that the writ of the government has weakened in many areas of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He pointed to the growing nexus between India, Israel, and Afghanistan, and described talks of potential agreements between them as a worrying development for regional stability.
To counter these threats, the religious leader appealed to Pakistan’s ruling and opposition parties to set aside their mutual animosities. He stressed the urgent need to formulate a joint and consensus-based strategy to protect the country’s sovereignty and integrity, which he believes is the only way to achieve political stability and navigate out of these perilous circumstances.
