Karachi: Pakistan's information technology exports reached US$365 million in February 2026, marking a 20% increase compared to the same period last year. Despite this year-on-year growth, the figure represents a slight 2% decline from January. Over the first eight months of the fiscal year, the country's IT exports have accumulated to US$2.98 billion, reflecting a consistent 20% year-on-year growth.
According to JS Global, net IT exports, which account for the difference between exports and imports, were recorded at US$320 million for the month, showing a 15% increase from the previous year. Although the government has set a fiscal year 2026 target of US$5 billion for IT exports, current projections suggest a growth rate of 18-20%, potentially bringing the total to US$4.5 billion, in comparison to US$3.8 billion achieved in fiscal year 2025.
As part of the 'Uraan Pakistan' national economic plan, the government has set a goal to reach US$10 billion in IT exports by fiscal year 2029, which would require a compound annual growth rate of 27% in the sector over the next few years.
