Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, in his message on Youm-e-Ilhaq-e-Pakistan today, said the days symbolizes the enduring bond between the people of Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir and reflects the Kashmiri people’s steadfast commitment to their internationally recognized right to self-determination.
The chairman Senate stated that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute remains an internationally recognized issue, and its peaceful and lasting resolution in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people is essential for sustainable peace and stability in South Asia. He urged the international community to take meaningful notice of the human rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and support efforts to ensure the realization of the Kashmiri people’s legitimate rights.
Gilani reaffirmed that Pakistan’s Parliament had consistently stood with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and would continue to raise their voice at national, regional, and international parliamentary forums. He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering political, diplomatic, and moral support for the just cause of the Kashmiri people, emphasizing that their sacrifices for freedom, justice, and dignity will never be forgotten.
