Pakistan Women A to take on WI team in T20 tri-series final

LAHORE: In a highly anticipated final match, Pakistan Women A and West Indies Women A are gearing up to battle it out in the T20 Tri-Series on November 8 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

According to the PCB inforamtion on Tuesday, the toss is scheduled to take place at 0930 PKT, with the first ball to be delivered at 1000 PKT. Leading up to this grand finale, the T20 Tri-Series witnessed a series of matches played at the same venue. The participating teams, which include Pakistan Women A, West Indies Women A, and Thailand Women Emerging, engaged in two matches each.

Pakistan Women A emerged victorious in both of their encounters, showcasing their dominance in the tournament. On the other hand, West Indies Women A managed to secure a win against Thailand Women Emerging, who faced defeat in both of their matches.

Notable performances in the series include Pakistan opener Shawaal Zulfiqar, who led the batting charts with an impressive unbeaten half-century of 67 not out from 66 balls, featuring 10 boundaries, in a match against Thailand Women Emerging. Sidra Nawaz also shone with an undefeated half-century of 54 not out, delivered in just 40 balls, featuring 7 boundaries, against West Indies Women A.

Key bowlers have also left their mark on the tournament. West Indies off-spinner Shennata Grimmond claimed three wickets with an impressive average of 4.33 in their two games. Fast bowlers Jannilea Glasgow, Qiana Joseph, and Jahzara Claxton also accounted for three wickets each. Meanwhile, Pakistan skipper Rameen Shamim, off-spin bowler Omaima Sohail, and pacer Humna Bilal equally shared the spotlight, each bagging three wickets in their two games.

Commenting on the upcoming final, Pakistan Women A captain Rameen Shamim expressed her team's confidence, riding on the back of two consecutive wins. She emphasized their strong belief in clinching the final.

West Indies Women A captain Rashada Williams, though acknowledging their previous loss to Pakistan, conveyed her team's determination to turn the tables. Their recent victory against Thailand Emerging has further boosted their morale.

Following the conclusion of the tri-series, Pakistan Women A is slated to face Thailand Women Emerging in two T20 matches on November 10 and 11, both to be held at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
