Pakistan received workers’ remittances worth $4.3 billion in May 2026, marking a significant increase on both a monthly and annual basis, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said on Wednesday.
According to the central bank, remittance inflows rose 20.2% month-on-month and 15.4% year-on-year basis, reflecting continued strong overseas support for the country’s economy.
During the first 11 months of fiscal year 2025-26 (July-May), cumulative workers’ remittances reached $38.1 billion, up 9.2% from $34.9 billion recorded during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, the SBP said.
The largest share of remittances in May came from Saudi Arabia, which contributed $1.025 billion, followed by the United Arab Emirates with $1.007 billion, the United Kingdom with $645.5 million, and the United States with $349.8 million.
Workers’ remittances remain a key source of foreign exchange for Pakistan, helping support external accounts and household incomes amid ongoing economic challenges.
