The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) today declared July 1 a bank holiday, under which banks and other financial institutions across the country will suspend public dealings for the day.
In a statement, the central bank said that all commercial banks, development finance institutions (DFIs), and microfinance banks would remain closed for customer transactions and public banking services on July 1.
Despite the holiday, employees of banks and financial institutions will report to work as usual and carry out internal operations, while over-the-counter banking services and public financial transactions will remain unavailable throughout the day.
The SBP said the holiday would apply nationwide, with banking operations for customers resuming after the one-day closure.
