SUKKUR: Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chairman and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Moulana Fazlur Rehman said on Monday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan is blackmailing the government and institutions to appoint army chief of his choice, but those who have the authority to appoint new army chief should be trusted.
Addressing a press conference in Sukkur, he said that all the parties in the country were working as a team at present. He said floods had broken the backbone of the economy, adding that his party took out a rally in Shikarpur after a long time and there was no shortage of public in it.
It may be noted that Minister for Defense Khawaja Asif today said that the Prime Minister Office has not received the summary for the appointment of the next chief of army staff (COAS) so far and that the process to appoint the next army chief had formally started but the summary for the appointment will be forwarded to PM Office in a day or two.
