Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting of parliamentary party leaders to address the critical situation concerning Pakistan-Afghanistan relations and escalating regional tensions, particularly in the Middle East and the Gulf.
The gathering, convened in the capital, is set to feature a comprehensive briefing for the attendees. This presentation will highlight Pakistan’s recent diplomatic initiatives aimed at navigating the recent hostilities.
According to the agenda, the Prime Minister aims to apprise the political leadership of the nation”s stance and actions, fostering a unified understanding of the sensitive geopolitical developments.
The session is being attended by a significant cross-section of Pakistan”s political establishment. Key figures present include Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and their respective deputies, Syedal Khan and Ghulam Mustafa Shah.
Also participating are Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. The federal cabinet is represented by ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Attaullah Tarar, and Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry.
Heads of allied parties in attendance include Abdul Aleem Khan of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party, Khalid Hussain Magsi of the Balochistan Awami Party, and Chaudhry Salik Hussain of the PML-Q.
A prominent delegation from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, comprising Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Syed Mustafa Kamal, Faisal Sabzwari, Dr Farooq Sattar, and Amin ul Haq, is also present at the consultation.
