Political – ‘Acid wash’ needed to cleanse the system’s ‘filth’: Islamic Solidarity Council

Leaders of prominent religious and social organizations have declared that the “filth” within the country’s system needs to be “acid-washed,” decrying the failure to deliver exemplary punishment to “national criminals” involved in corruption and terrorism.

During a meeting held on Sunday at a local hotel in District East, representatives of the Islamic Solidarity Council and the Muhib-e-Qaumi Social Council expressed grave concern over the state of governance and justice.

Aslam Khan Farooqui of the Muhib-e-Qaumi Social Council asserted that criminals are being provided a safe passage through so-called constitutional amendments and superficial investigations, citing the Gul Plaza fire inquiry as a prime example.

Other speakers, including Allama Abdul Khaliq Faridi and Yaqoob Ahmed Shaikh, collectively lamented that the current Pakistan has strayed far from the objectives of its creation. They alleged that the country’s rulers are unwilling to look beyond personal interests, leading to a continuous deterioration of the nation’s situation.

They highlighted that the entire country is currently in the grip of terrorism, with sporadic incidents of violence occurring. The leaders also pointed to a simultaneous rise in street crime and killings.

The council members argued that terrorism manifests in various forms, including corruption, which they termed a major type. They also described tragic incidents like the recent devastating fire at Gul Plaza as another form of terrorism, stressing the lack of accountability for those involved.

Concluding their remarks, the leaders called for a unified national voice for the rule of law, justice, and the protection of human rights. They maintained that without establishing lasting peace and upholding legal principles, the country’s development, stability, and prosperity are impossible.
