Political – Kashmiris residing worldwide will observe Black Day today

President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has announced that Kashmiris residing on both sides of the state and around the world will observe January 26 as “Black Day”, signaling their unwavering commitment to continue the freedom struggle.

In a statement today, the President of Azad Kashmir highlighted that since the events of August 5, 2019, siege-like conditions, restrictions, and the suppression of civil liberties have increased in the occupied valley. He added that despite this, the Kashmiri people have remained steadfast and brave, refusing to bow to any pressure.

Barrister Chaudhry clarified that the purpose of this protest day is to send a message to the international community to urge India to adopt a “realistic and serious attitude” instead of obstructing the Kashmiri people’s fundamental right to self-determination.

The President of Azad Kashmir further emphasized that the changing regional and global circumstances demand greater attention and immediate, effective progress towards the resolution of the long-standing Kashmir issue.
