Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari today criticised the international community for its silence on the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), asserting that this indifference exposes a significant gap between professed democratic values and their actual practice.
In a message released from the Media Cell Bilawal House on the eve of Kashmir Day, the chairman urged global powers to fulfil their moral and legal responsibilities to safeguard the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri populace, as stipulated by international law and UN resolutions.
Mr Bhutto Zardari contended that seven decades of oppression and grave human rights violations have failed to break the indomitable spirit of the Kashmiri people or weaken their just struggle for freedom. He added that the hearts of Pakistan”s citizens beat in unison with their Kashmiri counterparts.
He recalled that his mother, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, established February 5 as Kashmir Day to reinvigorate the cause and honour the martyrs of the freedom struggle, thereby continuing the legacy of her father, Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
Reiterating his party’s unwavering support, the PPP chairman declared that the organisation stands firmly with the people of Kashmir. He affirmed that the party will continue to raise its voice on every available forum until they attain freedom, dignity, and justice, stressing that no power could prevent them from achieving their “rightful destiny.”
