The Meteorological Department on Tuesday predicted the possibility of rain with thunderstorms and potential snowfall in the northern areas on Wednesday. This warning extends to upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Punjab, the Pothohar region, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir, where there is also a risk of hailstorms in some places.

In contrast, the weather is expected to remain dry in the central and southern parts of the country, providing relief from the severe conditions expected in the north.

Morning temperatures have been measured in major cities, reflecting the current weather situation. Islamabad and Peshawar both recorded 14 degrees Celsius, Lahore 18 degrees Celsius, Karachi 22 degrees Celsius, while Quetta recorded a chilly 6 degrees Celsius. Temperatures were even lower in the northern areas, with Gilgit recording 4 degrees Celsius, Murree 8 degrees Celsius, and Muzaffarabad 10 degrees Celsius.

A similar forecast has been issued for the region of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. In key areas such as Srinagar, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, Baramulla, and Jammu, there is a possibility of partly cloudy skies with strong winds and thunderstorms. Morning temperatures in these areas were quite cold, with Srinagar at 6 degrees Celsius, Jammu, Shopian, and Baramulla at 15 degrees Celsius, while the temperature in Leh dropped to minus 2 degrees Celsius. Pulwama and Anantnag recorded a morning temperature of 14 degrees Celsius.

Authorities have advised residents in the affected areas to prepare for severe weather conditions and exercise caution.
