Preparations for the annual Urs of Sufi saint Baba Farid Ganj Shakar, security plan prepared

The annual Urs of the great Sufi saint of the Indian subcontinent, Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Masood Ganj Shakar, is celebrated every year at his shrine in Pakpattan, Punjab with traditional devotion and respect. Before the 784th annual Urs of Baba Fariduddin Masood Ganj Shakar, local authorities today have intensified security measures to ensure the safety of participants during the 15-day event.

District Police Officer (DPO) Javed Chadhar and Deputy Commissioner Asif Raza conducted a complete on-foot inspection of the Urs route to review security protocols. They closely examined the arrangements and provided important instructions to the officers responsible for maintaining discipline.

These preparations are part of a broader initiative to ensure the safety of thousands of devotees expected to attend the event. The Urs is not only a significant cultural and religious gathering but also an administrative challenge for the local administration responsible for ensuring a peaceful event.

The focus of the authorities is on the deployment of adequate security personnel and improving arrangements for the anticipated large crowds. The review of measures aims to serve as a preventative strategy to prevent any untoward incidents during the events.
