Bhimber: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has laid the foundation stone for a new Daanish School in Bhimber, Azad Kashmir, aimed at providing quality and free education to underprivileged children. The initiative marks a significant step toward enhancing educational opportunities in the region.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the groundbreaking ceremony, which took place on Wednesday, marked the launch of the first Daanish School Science and Technology Center of Excellence in Bhimber. The Prime Minister expressed a commitment to establishing more such schools in Azad Kashmir and other underdeveloped areas across the country.

Prime Minister Sharif emphasized that Daanish Schools are designed to offer quality education to talented children who otherwise lack access to adequate educational facilities. He attributed the concept of Daanish Schools to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, with an initial focus on assisting children from less developed areas of Punjab whose families could not afford educational expenses.

Highlighting the success of the initiative, the Prime Minister noted that thousands of students from Daanish Schools are now serving in key departments after completing their studies. The schools provide free books, meals, and boarding facilities, with separate campuses for girls and boys.

The Prime Minister also announced plans to establish additional Daanish Schools in Neelum, other parts of Azad Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Balochistan, and merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Funding for these schools will be provided by the federal government, with a directive to operationalize the Bhimber school within a year.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the symbolic significance of the initiative for the people of Occupied Kashmir, expressing hope that the new educational facilities would be well-received by their brothers in the region.

The Prime Minister concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the people of Kashmir in their quest for self-determination, in line with United Nations resolutions.
