Protective Embankment Breaches At Ganda Singh Wala; Thousands Relocated Amidst Widespread Flooding

A breach in the protective embankment at Ganda Singh Wala on the Sutlej River has led to significant flooding at Head Sulemanki, prompting extensive relief efforts by the Pakistan Army, civil administration, and other organizations across South Punjab. Thousands of residents, along with their livestock and wheat reserves, have been moved to safety. Twelve relief camps have been established near the Sutlej River to accommodate those displaced by the rising waters.

In Sahiwal, forty-nine villages have been impacted, leading to the establishment of thirty relief camps. High-level flooding is also reported at Head Sidhnai in Tehsil Kabirwala, with relief work underway in Tulamba, Mian Channu, and Iqbal Nagar.

Free medical camps have been set up by the army in affected areas of Okara to provide medical aid to those in need. Additional flood relief camps have been established in areas anticipated to be affected, including Rangpur and Head Muhammad Wala. In Tehsil Muzaffargarh and Kot Addu, authorities are assessing precautionary measures.

Rescue and relief initiatives are also ongoing in several other flood-hit regions, including Kholra Point, Hasu Wali, Budhwana, Jhang, and District Chiniot. Hundreds more have been moved to secure locations. The Pakistan Army continues to operate relief camps in these areas, ensuring a constant supply of clothing, food, and medicine. Free medical camps have also been established to provide necessary medical assistance to flood victims.
