Protests erupt after ECP decision against Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: Protest demonstrations and clashes with the security forces witnessed countrywide after the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision to disqualification of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case.

PTI workers in a large number started protests in the capital and other cities like Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Peshawar and blocked several roads for traffic. Clashes of protesters with the police were also being observed in different cities including Islamabad where security forces have used teargas to disperse the PTI protesters who are pelting stones at the police.

The aggressive protesters have also burnt tyres on the road to block the traffic on many highways and main roads in the cities. The channel report said that a clash between police and protesters was observed at Faizabad square, an entry point between Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Police have used shells of teargases to disperse the protester.
