Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced that the provincial administration is closely monitoring the rising flood situation at various barrages in Sindh. Guddu and Panjnad barrages are currently facing high-level flood threats, posing a serious risk to people living in low-lying areas.
The Sindh administration is actively engaged in rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts to protect residents and their properties. Memon reiterated the government’s commitment to safeguarding flood-affected individuals.
Panjnad barrage is experiencing severe flooding, with upstream and downstream flows measuring 402,919 cusecs, respectively. Guddu barrage is also witnessing a rise in water levels, where upstream and downstream flows have been recorded at 612,269 cusecs and 582,942 cusecs, respectively.
Sukkur barrage has a medium-level flood, with upstream and downstream flows measuring 488,820 cusecs and 438,390 cusecs, respectively. Kotri barrage also has high water levels, with upstream and downstream flows recorded at 274,129 cusecs and 261,399 cusecs, respectively.
Yesterday, 5,269 individuals were moved to safe locations, bringing the total number of displaced people to 163,364. An additional 252 individuals were shifted from at-risk areas to relief camps, increasing the total number of camp residents to 469.
The provincial administration has established 177 permanent and mobile medical facilities. In the past 24 hours, 6,596 patients were treated at these facilities. Overall, 84,118 flood-affected individuals have received medical assistance.
Efforts are also underway to protect livestock. In the last 24 hours, 11,569 animals were moved to safer places, bringing the total number of relocated livestock to 438,835. Moreover, 51,308 animals received vaccinations and treatment yesterday, resulting in a total of 1,232,223 animals provided with veterinary care.
