PTI Leader Alleges Assault on Constitution Over Imran Khan’s 900-Day Detention

A senior Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) official on Friday described the prolonged incarceration of party founder Imran Khan, now exceeding 900 days, as a direct assault on Pakistan’s constitution and fundamental human rights.

In a statement issued on Friday, Faheem Khan, PTI Karachi Division Senior Vice President and a former MNA, asserted that keeping the former prime minister in extended isolation and subjecting him to mental distress constituted a blatant violation of both domestic law and international standards.

He contended that the repeated disregard for court orders in the case demonstrated that the rule of law had been effectively suspended in the country.

The former lawmaker also took aim at the Elections (Amendment) Bill 2026, labelling it an attempt to mislead the public. He argued that allowing legislators to conceal asset details under the pretext of security was a “conspiracy to shield a corrupt elite.”

Khan maintained that transparency is the foundation of democracy and that representatives unwilling to disclose their assets forfeit the moral authority to govern.

Commenting on the nation”s finances, he criticised what he called the ruling authorities” claims of “artificial stability.” Khan pointed to fresh borrowing worth billions of dollars, growing isolation from global markets, and rising inflation as proof of economic mismanagement.

He added that Karachi, like the rest of the country, was grappling with expensive electricity, unemployment, and business stagnation, while the government relied on debt for short-term relief.

Faheem Khan concluded by demanding the immediate release of Imran Khan and all political prisoners, urging that national decisions be made transparently and calling for a return to constitutionalism, which he said was essential for Pakistan”s survival and stability.
