Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh, led by its president Haleem Adil Sheikh, on Sunday staged a big protest rally in Jacobabad against six controversial canals projects and India’s alleged water terrorism.
Senior PTI Sindh leaders, including Maula Bux Soomro and Larkana division president Iqrar Jakhrani, joined the rally with numerous party workers and supporters. Addressing the gathering, Haleem accused the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of exploiting Sindh’s water resources, alleging that PPP president Asif Ali Zardari approved the controversial projects and then misled the public.
Haleem mentioned a lawyers’ movement launched across Sindh, condemning police actions against peaceful protesters. He emphasized PTI’s solidarity with Sindh, stating their opposition to any misuse of Indus River water, which he termed crucial for the province”s population.
He highlighted PTI’s peaceful protest stance, noting their commitment to continue advocating for the release of their leader, Imran Khan. On regional issues, Haleem accused the Indian government of water terrorism, asserting Pakistan”s readiness to defend its water rights, even if it meant crossing borders.
