Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has strongly condemned reported statements from Afghan leaders about potential attacks on Islamabad, with Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan declaring the party would stand firmly with the nation’s armed forces to defend every inch of Pakistan against any aggression.

In an interview on Thursday, Barrister Gohar asserted that should Afghanistan exhibit any form of hostility, PTI’s support for the people and military of Pakistan would be unequivocal. He emphasized that there is no ambiguity and that the party would stand by the nation just as it did during conflicts with India.

The PTI chairman expressed confidence in the country’s defense capabilities, stating that Pakistan possesses the necessary resources and capacity to safeguard itself from any direct or proxy conflict. ‘If Afghanistan shows aggression, Pakistan has the right to defend itself,’ he remarked.

Despite the firm posture, Barrister Gohar underscored the importance of peaceful coexistence with neighboring countries. He advocated for persistent diplomatic engagement to de-escalate the tense situation, expressing skepticism about the potential success of recent talks held in Turkiye.

The PTI leader attributed the precarious situation to the perception that ‘the Taliban government does not have full control across the country,’ which complicates diplomatic resolutions.

‘We should continue striving for dialogue until this issue is resolved,’ he urged, suggesting that Pakistan, in collaboration with friendly nations, should work to make the Afghan Taliban understand the significance of peace.

Reiterating his denunciation of the alleged threats, Barrister Gohar stressed that such remarks are unacceptable. He invoked the United Nations Charter, affirming that Pakistan has ‘every right to defend itself’ while maintaining that the matter should ultimately be settled through mutual understanding.
