LAHORE:PTI women leaders Shireen Mazari and Dr Yasmin Rashid were arrested on Friday.
PTI Central Senior Vice-President and former human rights minister Shireen Mazari was taken into custody from her home in Islamabad in a pre-dawn raid and was shifted to a police station.
It should be noted that the arrest of Dr Shireen Mazari was confirmed by her daughter Iman Mazari, who said the police had surrounded their house and switched off the CCTV cameras.
Yasmin Rashid, former Punjab minister for health, was also arrested from Lahore in the morning.
PTI leader Andleeb Abbas confirmed Dr Yasmin Rashid had been arrested by the police. She said Yasmin Rashid was hiding in Defence or Cavalry Ground area in Lahore and was planning to travel to Islamabad along with her supporters.
A day earlier PTI Central Punjab President Dr Yasmin Rashid had castigated Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar for making irresponsible statements against her.
