Punjab Budget On June 16

The Punjab government has completed preparations for the presentation of its budget for the financial year 2026-27, which is scheduled to be unveiled in the provincial assembly on June 16, officials said on Monday.

They said the financial figures of the upcoming budget had already been finalised, while the provincial administration was ready for its formal submission in the legislature.

Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman is expected to present the budget before the provincial assembly, according to official sources.

A meeting of the provincial cabinet is scheduled for 11:00am on June 16, ahead of the assembly session, to give final approval to the budgetary proposals, sources added.

Officials said the upcoming financial plan prioritises the social sector, reflecting a focus on welfare-oriented spending.

They further stated that no new taxes would be introduced in the budget for the next fiscal year. The proposed financial framework also includes recommendations for increases in salaries and pensions, aligned with adjustments announced in the federal budget.

The federal government has already proposed a 7 percent rise in salaries for public sector employees and a 7 percent increase in pensions for retired staff under its FY26-27 budget.
