On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has taken action against food outlets in Okara for violating hygiene standards and using prohibited items.
Led by the Additional Director Operations Sahiwal Division, the PFA inspected several establishments.
A restaurant and marriage hall near GT Road Okara Bypass was fined Rs 75,000. Inspectors disposed of 5 kg of substandard spices and identified unsanitary conditions, including the presence of insects in large numbers.
Another restaurant in Gateway Mall, Okara, was fined Rs 50,000 for using prohibited ingredients and similar hygiene issues.
The PFA reiterated its commitment to ensuring food safety and vowed to continue its crackdown against adulteration.
