Rally and Protest in Naseerabad Against Increasing Drug Sales, Sit-in at Arthur Bridge

Residents of Naseerabad expressed their outrage over the widespread availability of drugs in the city by holding a rally and protest in Naseerabad and staging a sit-in at Arthur Bridge. Led by Zamir Maghri of the Syed Mohalla Social Welfare Association, along with JUI’s Maulana Muhammad Usman Maghri, Mansoor Soomro, Naji Chana, and other community figures, the protesters took out rallies in various neighborhoods, which culminated in a large protest at Arthur Bridge.

The demonstrators held placards and chanted slogans against the uncontrolled sale of drugs like ice, opium, heroin, and cannabis. Protest leaders expressed deep concern that these drugs are as readily available as any common medicine. They accused local law enforcement agencies of being preoccupied with accepting bribes, resulting in the unchecked continuation of the illegal drug trade.

Highlighting the dire consequences of this issue, activists revealed that the easy availability of drugs has led to a significant increase in drug addiction among youth. The lack of funds to support their habits has allegedly compelled some addicts to resort to theft, targeting homes and businesses.

Political and social leaders participating in the protest called for action, demanding immediate intervention from the SSP of Qambar-Shahdadkot and other relevant authorities. They demanded legal action against drug dealers, filing legal cases against them, and efforts to eradicate drug smuggling to protect the future of Naseerabad’s younger generation from further harm.
