Remittances Soar to $40 Billion as Overseas Employment Jumps 5%

Pakistan’s economy received a significant boost last year as remittances from its diaspora surged by nine percent to approximately 40 billion dollars, concurrent with a five percent rise in the number of citizens securing employment abroad.

According to an official report today, the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis announced that a total of 762,499 workers were sent to foreign countries in 2025.

The positive results were yielded by tangible measures taken by the Bureau of Immigration to assist overseas job seekers.

Diplomatic efforts during the year led to the signing of new labour mobility agreements with Italy, Belarus, and Iraq, expanding international job prospects for the workforce.

A major development was Italy”s allocation of 10,500 work permits for Pakistan over a three-year term, providing opportunities for about 3,500 workers annually.

Furthermore, the ministry stated that access to Gulf labour markets was broadened after Qatar resumed the issuance of work visas for Pakistani nationals, concluding a 19-year hiatus.
