Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has taken on a new challenge as the Team Director of Quetta Gladiators in the HBL Pakistan Super League. The Gladiators, champions of the 2019 edition, currently stand fifth in the ongoing PSL X, with one win and two losses.
Sarfaraz, who led the Gladiators to their maiden PSL title, discussed the transition from player to director with PCB Digital, noting the excitement and challenges of the role. He emphasized the importance of evolving one’s skillset and adapting to new responsibilities, drawing on his experience as a long-time member of the Quetta team.
Reflecting on the league’s growth, Sarfaraz acknowledged the efforts of PCB management and stakeholders in elevating the PSL’s status. He expressed optimism about Quetta’s prospects this season, aiming to replicate their 2019 success.
Sarfaraz also commented on the team’s overseas players, expressing confidence in their suitability for the T20 format. He highlighted young talents Hasan Nawaz and Khawaja Nafay as promising assets for the future.
Regarding Saud Shakeel’s leadership, Sarfaraz expressed full confidence in the captain, despite the team’s mixed results so far. The Gladiators will continue their campaign with five home matches in Lahore, hoping to climb the league standings.
