Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the government’s willingness to engage in dialogue with the opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), but issued a stern warning that any form of blackmailing or unlawful activities under the guise of talks will not be tolerated.
Addressing a Federal Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, the Prime Minister emphasised that discussions must be centred on legitimate matters and reiterated that his administration is prepared to sit with the PTI if they are ready for constructive talks.
Mr Sharif recalled that he had repeatedly made the offer for dialogue in the past, underscoring that harmony amongst all political parties is important for the progress and prosperity of the country.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister also expressed confidence in the government”s privatisation agenda, noting that the successful bidding of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIACL) would help advance this policy.
He described the PIACL privatisation as set to become the biggest transaction in the nation”s history and affirmed that the entire process was conducted with complete transparency.
Additionally, Shehbaz Sharif remarked that the conferment of a prestigious Saudi award upon Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir, is an honour for the whole nation.
