Punjab University”s Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, has stressed the significant role of sports in nurturing discipline, cognitive sharpness, and physical development among students. Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of the 124th Intercollegiate Championships 2024-25, organized by the Punjab University Sports Department, he brought attention to how sports contribute to developing crucial life skills. The event was attended by distinguished personalities such as PU Director Sports Dr Shabbir Sarwar, Dean Faculty of Law Dr Shazia Noreen Qureshi, Principal Oriental College Dr Nabila Rehman, Principal Hailey College of Commerce Prof Dr Hafiz Zafar Ahmed, social worker Raja Munawar, along with faculty members and a large gathering of students.
Prof Dr Muhammad Ali highlighted the timeless importance of Quaid-e-Azam’s ideals of faith, unity, and discipline as pivotal elements for a successful life. He referenced the triumph of the recent Operation Banyan Marsus as proof of the nation”s collective spirit and disciplined methodology. Dr Shabbir Sarwar revealed plans for a forthcoming talent hunt initiative aimed at identifying budding athletes from colleges to boost sports at both divisional and university scales. Under the guidance of Dr Muhammad Ali, the Punjab University Sports Department remains committed to its mission of promoting athletic endeavors. The ceremony wrapped up with Prof Dr Muhammad Ali bestowing mementoes upon the triumphant participants.
