Strict action ordered against those illegally occupying widows’ properties in Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in an order today, has directed immediate and strict action against individuals illegally occupying properties, with a focus on resolving the cases of helpless widows whose rights have been violated on a priority basis. Under this new directive, a system of daily monitoring and direct reporting to the Chief Minister’s office has been established to ensure prompt justice for all.

To ensure the swift implementation of all government decisions, Chief Minister Sharif has directed the full enforcement of Ordinance 2025. Under this initiative, the Deputy Commissioners of every district are required to hold daily District Resolution Committee (DRC) meetings, which the Chief Minister will personally monitor to ensure compliance and effectiveness.

To enhance public awareness and accessibility, the provincial government will inform citizens about the immediate measures against illegal property occupation through announcements in mosques. Additionally, citizens can now submit applications regarding such complaints at the Assistant Commissioner’s office in every tehsil.

The Chief Minister expressed significant displeasure over the slow pace of resolving occupation cases in several districts, including Gujrat, Layyah, and Hafizabad. A recent briefing revealed that in the last three weeks, 2,919 applications against illegal occupation were received across Punjab, while the district dispute resolution committees have so far resolved 499 of these cases.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, “We want to provide immediate relief to the public through the prompt resolution of illegal occupation cases.”

She further emphasized the unwavering nature of this directive, stating, “All Deputy Commissioners must hold daily meetings on illegal occupation cases; I will personally monitor them.”
