LARKANA: Hundreds of students of 10th class of Government Pilot Higher Secondary School, Larkana, held a large protest demonstration at Jinnah Bagh here on Wednesday, the last day of their schooling before enjoying winter vacation, while wearing their uniforms against the arbitrarily fee hike by Larkana’s Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), after destruction of heavy rains and unprecedented flash floods said to be due to climate change which hit the rural areas of the province. They shouted slogans in favour of their just demand and against the one-sided decision of the BISE.
Students complained before media persons that BISE is forcibly charging increased fees of annual examination on one or the other pretext which is highly objectionable because of massive destruction in Sindh which has been acknowledged by the world community in which millions have become homeless. They said that education is the basic right of every child for which the Sindh Government has already made it free of any charge but BISE is daringly and viciously doing everything without observing laws of the land. They said that the BISE authorities intend to keep the future of Sindh illiterate void of education for which they should be strongly condemned.
They urged the higher Sindh Government authorities to take notice of the highhandedness of the BISE authorities and order withdrawal of the notification issued by them for hiking the fees immediately and to earn the prayers of the studying community or else, they added, the rulers will be cursed for their lifetime. They said they will not sit idle but will continue to seek their fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution.
