The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) today reported a significant development at its Safari Park, announcing the successful birth of 15 animals across seven distinct species. This event is being hailed as a major milestone for the park”s conservation and breeding initiatives, underscoring efforts to foster a sustainable wildlife environment.
According to KMC spokesperson Daniyal Siyal, a veterinary team conducted thorough medical examinations on the newborns, confirming that all the young animals are in excellent health. Special provisions have been established to safeguard their ongoing wellbeing.
In response to the births, Mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, has issued directives to the relevant departments to ensure enhanced care and the maintenance of a suitable habitat for the new arrivals.
Mayor Murtaza Wahab expressed his satisfaction with the development, stating, “I am pleased to announce the birth of 15 wildlife species at Safari Park. Their arrival not only enhances the beauty and diversity of the park but also stands as proof of the healthy and nurturing environment we have created for them.”
He elaborated that the successful births are a reflection of the administration”s commitment to “expanding the park’s wildlife capacity and improving the overall ecosystem.”
The Mayor described the event as a moment of joy for the city”s residents and wildlife enthusiasts. To commemorate the occasion, he has instructed park officials to organize a formal celebration, including a naming ceremony for the newborns.
“We must celebrate their arrival to express our care and compassion,” he noted, emphasizing that “wildlife deserves the same respect and protection as humans, and this celebration is a gesture of our commitment to their wellbeing.”
The new additions to the Safari Park family include four Sindh ibex, four blackbuck, two chital (spotted deer), two fallow deer, one mouflon, one white fallow deer, and one horse.
The KMC has reaffirmed its dedication to continuously enhancing the Safari Park’s facilities, growing its breeding programs, and cultivating a premier environment conducive to the flourishing of wildlife.
