MULTAN:,,, In a relief to consumers, the prices of sugar have dropped at both the wholesale and retail levels in Multan after the arrival of the sugarcane crushing season, it emerged Sunday.
The wholesale sugar rates have now experienced a significant reduction of Rs. 600, marking a new rate of Rs 12,200 for 100 kilograms. The consumers and businesses alike in the region can now benefit from the lowered sugar prices, which are expected to have a positive impact on the overall cost of living. Sugar started selling at Rs 122 per kg in the grain market of Multan. This reduction in sugar prices comes as welcome news for residents of Multan and surrounding areas.
The Punjab government has ordered starting of the sugarcane crushing season across the province from November 2. It also fixed the support price of cane at Rs 400 per maund.
