Super Kings registered their first win in the AKG Premier League Season 2 by defeating United Thunders by five wickets at the AKG Ground in Karachi.
United Thunders, batting first, were all out for just 112 runs in their 20 overs. Captain Javed Mansoor top-scored with 46 runs off 35 balls, hitting five fours. Mohammad Essa took 3 wickets for 21 runs, while Imran Maqbool and Sabir Khan took two wickets each. Captain Saleem Abdul Rahim and Alyan Murad also took a wicket apiece.
Chasing a target of 113 runs, Super Kings reached the target in 17.5 overs for the loss of five wickets. Khurram Shehzad led the successful chase with 39 runs off 32 balls, including five fours. Amin Akbar Ali remained unbeaten on 23 runs off 19 balls with two fours. Saleem Aman made 19 runs with three fours, while Sami Saleem Ludhaya also contributed with the same score. Rahim Suleman’s left-arm spin proved challenging for Super Kings, as he took 3 wickets for just 16 runs. Rahul Siani and Aniq Sher Ali also picked up a wicket each for United Thunders.
AKG member Muneer Somani presented the Man of the Match award to Mohammad Essa for his outstanding bowling performance.
After the third round, Storm Warriors lead the league standings with 6 points, while Aziz Damani and Friends United are second with 4.4 points. United Thunders and Super Kings are tied with 2.2 points each, while United Hurricanes are yet to earn any points.
In a crucial match on March 11, the unbeaten Storm Warriors will face United Thunders at 1:30 PM.
