In a significant relief effort for Punjab’s agricultural sector, Syngenta Pakistan today initiated a major aid program to assist farmers whose livelihoods were destroyed by recent devastating floods. The company has committed PKR 50 million in agricultural inputs to help restore farming activities across the hard-hit Multan and Sahiwal divisions.

The corporate social responsibility initiative will see a phased distribution of support. The initial phase, valued at PKR 25 million, is currently underway and aims to support the cultivation of approximately 12,000 acres of farmland, providing a crucial lifeline to the farming community.

A formal launch ceremony for the relief program was held at the Model Agrimall in Sahiwal. The event was attended by high-profile government figures, including Punjab”s Minister for Agriculture, Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani; Secretary Agriculture, Iftikhar Ali Sahoo; and Commissioner Sahiwal Division, Dr. Asif Tufail.

Representing the company, Country General Manager Zeeshan Hasib Baig, alongside Head of Corporate Affairs and Business Sustainability Syed Ali Murtaza and Head of Sales Banaras Habib, formally distributed vegetable seeds, crop protection products, and personal protective equipment (PPEs) to the affected growers.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Baig emphasized the importance of supporting the agricultural community. ‘Our farmers are the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, and it is our duty to support them in times of adversity,’ he stated.

The initiative is aimed at fostering a more resilient agricultural future and strengthening the foundation of the rural economy in the wake of the recent natural disaster.
