Zardari announces engagement of Bakhtawar

KARACHI:President Asif Ali Zardari has announced the engagement of his elder daughter Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari with Mahmood Chaudhary on November 27, 2020.

 

Credible sources told PPI on Saturday as saying: “President Asif Ali Zardari is pleased to announce, with the grace of God, the engagement of his and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s daughter Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari with Mahmood Chaudhry on November 27, 2020,” credible sources told PPI on Saturday. The engagement ceremony will be held at Bilawal House Karachi.

COVID-19 claims 16 more lives in Sindh

KARACHI:Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that 16 more coronavirus patients lost their lives overnight, lifting the death toll to 2,738 and 865 new cases emerged when 13,320 tests were conducted raising the tally to 154,738.

 

In a statement issued here from CM House, he said that 16 more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives while struggling against the virus that constituted 1.8 percent death rate.

 

Shah said that 13320 samples were tested which diagnosed 865 new cases that constituted 6.4 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 1,797,478 tests have been conducted against which 154,738 cases have been detected, of the 92 percent or 142,417 patients have recovered, including 335 overnight.

 

The CM said that currently, 9,583 patients were under treatment, of them 9,113 were in home isolation, seven at isolation centers and 463 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 366 patients was stated to be critical, of them 39 have been shifted to ventilators.

 

According to the statement, out of 865 new cases, 666 have been detected from Karachi, including 259 from East, 192 South, 93 Central, 57 Korangi, 37 Malir and 28 West. Hyderabad has 77 cases, Jamshoro 20, Shaheed Benazirabad 16, Badin 12, Sukkur nine, Sanghar six, Larkana, Naushehro Feroze and Umerkot four each, Thatta and Dadu three each, Khairpur, Ghotki and Sujawal two each, Jacobabad and Kashmore one each. The chief minister urged people of the province to follow SOPs for securing yourself and your families.

Early morning walk best to preventive measure against diabetes: Moot told

LARKANA:As many as 43 crore people are suffering from diabetes across the world now and their number is increasing day by day.

 

This was stated by Prof Dr Hakim Ali Abro, Chairman, Department of Medicine, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Larkana, while addressing a seminar organized at Chandka Medical College Auditorium Hall here Saturday on World Diabetes Day.

 

Abro said that the main cause of diabetes is use of sweet things and sugar on a daily basis. He said that adopting preventive measures were essential to remain safe from this silent killer disease which eats the patients like white ants.

 

The preventive and precautionary measures include doing exercise on a regular basis, including early morning walk, which should be made part and parcel of life. He said that the diabetic patients must take care of any wound which occurs in feet which will become very dangerous for them.

 

The participants also took out an awareness rally at the very outset from Chandka Hospital Gate to Chandka Medical College Auditorium Hall to mark the day. They were holding placards and large banners in their hands. They also distributed pamphlets and hand bills among the general public.

 

Meanwhile, another awareness seminar was also held at St. Joseph High School which was organized by a pharmaceutical company which was also largely participated by female teachers and students.

 

Senior Medical Officer Dr. Nadim Akhtar Korai said while addressing the participants that about seven million people are living in Pakistan with diabetes and every fourth person is suffering from this deadly disease. He said people should avoid eating sweet things, bakery items, fast food, soft drinks, cold drinks and adopt regular exercises which will be very effective in preventing this silent killer disease. He said if sugar level is increased then the affected person may also lose his/her life.

PTI govt, army on same page: MPA Adil

LARKANA:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice President and the leader of parliamentary party in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh has said that the PTI government and Pakistan army are on the same page and all conspiracies against the solidarity of the country would be foiled.

 

Addressing a press conference here at the Insaf House, flanked by PTI leaders Samiullah Abro, Rajib Shahani, Ali Khan Tunio and others, he said the press conference of foreign minister and ISPR is very important. He said in the press conference of DG ISPR, it was known that India is spending billions of rupees on separatist outfits. He said: “Our country is strong, irrespective of the conspiracies of anti-Pakistan elements.” He said previously, governments and army would be on separate pages, but now they are on one page.

 

Adil said in the government of Nawaz Sharif, scandals of Dawn Leaks and Memo gate surfaced. He said the PMD had come out as a movement to weaken Pakistan. He said in this Papa Daddy Bachao Movement, many parties had taken money to create sentiments that the people of Pakistan were not happy with the government of Imran Khan. He said some politicians who had understood this situation had already left the PML-N.

 

Adil said Nawaz Sharif and his family by leading Pakistan Muslim League had displeased the soul of Quaid e Azam. He said Nawaz Sharif had become another copy of Altaf Hussain. He said the nation should make those people accountable who had looted the country. He said as per a survey, 92 percent people are satisfied with the leadership of Imran Khan.

 

He said Nawaz Sharif was creation of Ziaul Haq. He said Imran Khan had sacked all corrupt officers. He has become Prime Minister after a struggle of 22 years. He said during last two years, the assets of Imran Khan had decreased. He said Bilawal Bhutto Zardari says that he would make Gilgit another Larkana. He said people of Larkana were compelled to drink contaminated water. AIDS is spreading in Larkana and medicines stolen from government hospitals.

 

He said the role of Child and Women Protection Cell was seen nowhere in Alisha rape case. He said we salute the brave ASI who volunteered his wife and daughter to arrest the accused. He said the confession of accused Khairullah Bugti tells that a huge gang of trafficking women and children is working there. He said Alisha was shifted to Karachi due to lack of healthcare facilities in Larkana.

 

He said the real agents of Jews are Maulana and Nawaz Sharif and they are weakening Pakistan. He said he congratulates the Hindu community on the occasion of Dewali.

 

Separately, Haleem Adil Sheikh paid a visit to Sheikh Zayed Children Hospital Larkana, where patients and their attendants complained a lot about lack of facilities in the hospital.

 

Adil also visited Miro Khan where he was welcomed by PTI leader Sardar Muhammad Ali Hakro, Samiullah Hakro, Asghar Chandio and others.

 

Adil offered condolence on the demise of parents of PTI leader Sabir Hussain Shah, and Maroof Tunio. He also offered condolence to heirs of the victims of firing of dacoits, Shakeel and Allah Warayo Brohi at village Sher Dil Brohi and assured the all-out assistance in early arrest of the killers.

17 more Covid patients died in Pakistan

Karachi:As many as 2,165 new coronavirus cases were reported in Pakistan on Saturday while 17 more patients died of the virus disease. The country-wide death toll from the virus has surged to 7,109 so far since the outbreak of the disease in February.

 

According to National Command and Operation Centre daily report, a total of 354,461 people have been tested positive for the coronavirus disease in the country since its outbreak in February 2020, out of which 153,873 cases were in Sindh, 109,309 in Punjab, 16,328 in Balochistan, 41,723 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 23,533 in Islamabad, 4,434 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 5,261 in Azad Kashmir.

 

However, 322,414 patients have recovered from the disease so far. There is continuous rise in the coronavirus cases and deaths across the country.

Traditional methods of farming needed: Minister

LARKANA:Sindh Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Abdul Bari Pitafi has said that traditional methods of farming were needed to be modernized so as to bring sustainable development in rural areas and added that every effort would be welcomed in this regard.

 

The provincial minister said this while talking to Ms Shabnam Baloch, Provincial Lead Sindh Growth for Rural Advancement and Sustainable Progress (GRASP) Project at his office. Pitafi added that livestock and fisheries were key sectors of rural communities advancement but unfortunately, our farmers were still practicing outdated ways of farming which produced poor yields.

 

The minister said intervention and promotion of entrepreneurs in livestock and fisheries farming would also help in uplifting the livelihood of small and medium-sized farmers and reduce poverty in the rural areas of the province. He pledged to support the policy component to trickle down its effect to small farmers.

 

Earlier, while briefing, Ms Shabnam Baloch, Provincial Lead Sindh, Growth for Rural Advancement and Sustainable Progress (GRASP), informed that GRASP was implemented by the International Trade Center (ITC).

 

It was discussed during the meeting that GRASP will provide support to the livestock department in devoting enterprises development policy for the sector, capacity building of department officials on legal framework issues around policy implementation 5 years strategy and action plan for the department. Support will also be provided in devoting modern curriculum livestock extension, support livestock entrepreneurs around quality and value addition of GRASP priority products.
