A suspected daylight kidnapping attempt targeting a 16-year-old girl in a busy Gujranwala market was foiled after her two sisters intervened and resisted the attackers, forcing them to flee, police said today.
Authorities launched an investigation and registered a case after CCTV footage of the incident surfaced on social media. Police said raids were being conducted to trace and arrest the suspects with the help of video evidence.
The teenager was walking through the market with her sisters when a vehicle stopped nearby, according to preliminary police findings. A masked man allegedly stepped out of the car and attempted to force the girl into the vehicle. Witness accounts indicated that the suspect grabbed the teenager by her hair and tried to drag her inside.
The girl’s sisters immediately confronted the attacker and resisted the abduction attempt instead of retreating. Their swift response disrupted the plan, compelling the suspect and his accomplices to abandon the attempt and escape from the scene.
Video footage circulating online appeared to show the sisters bravely confronting the alleged abductors while trying to protect their sibling.
Police said investigations were ongoing and that efforts had been intensified to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in the attempted kidnapping.
