QUETTA: A three-day cycling competitions under the auspices of Management Committee (Cycling), Pakistan Olympic Association were held in Bajawar and Mohmand districts of Khyberpushtunkhwa under the patronage of Pak Army 22 Brigade Mohmand, said a statement issued by Management Committee (Cycling), Pakistan Olympic Association on Friday.
Cycle races , including 84 kilometres professional, 40 kilometres Amateur and 32 kilometre normal, commenced from Cadet College Mohmand. Sole purpose of gala event of cycling was to convey the message of peace, create awareness regarding promotion of sports, particularly cycling discipline, and to pay glowing tributes to the sacrifices rendered by security forces of the country. Focal person of three day event of cycling was Nasir Khan Mohmand, President, Khyberpushtunkhwa Cycling Association. About 124 cyclists of Pak-WAPDA, Pak-Railway, Pak-Army, Higher Education Commission (HEC), Balochistan, Punjab, Sindh,,Gilgit and Islamabad took part in the gala event of cycling.
In the individual event, scion of Balochistan and cyclist of Pakistan WAPDA Najeebullah Khan got first position, Umer Farooq of Khyberpushtunkhwa secured second position while Sanaullah of Higher Education Commission clinched third position. Overall team position was that Pak-WAPDA first, Khyberpushtunkhwa second, HEC third while Pak-Army got fourth position. Performance of cyclists from Balochistan, including Kifayatullah,,Samiullah, Tawuz Khan, Muhammad Fareed, Nisar Ahmed and Shabir Ahmed, was magnificent during three day event of cycling. Duties of coaches were performed by cyclist Ahmedullah and Nazar Muhammad while Chief Guest of the event was Inspector General of Frontier Corps Khyberpushtunkhwa Noor Wali. Chief guest of the event Noor Wali gave away prizes amongst the successful cyclists.
Member Pakistan Olympic Association (Cycling), Management Committee, Shair Muhammad Tarin, President, Balochistan Cycling Association Liaquat Ali Tarin, Chairman, Syed Anwar Shah, Secretary, Gul Kakar and other office bearers of Balochistan Cycling Association felicitated Pakistan Olympic Association, Khyberpushtunkhwa Cycling Association, particularly Pak-Army 22 Brigade Mohmand, over arranging splendid three-day event of cycling in Bajawar and Mohmand districts of Khyberpushtunkhwa.
