A high-level meeting at Governor House has reviewed preparations for the holy month of Ramazan, focusing on providing economic assistance to citizens through subsidised bazaars and a transparent ration distribution system.
According to a statement issued from the Sindh Governor House today, the session was jointly chaired by Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori and Federal Minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, who also serves as Chairman of MQM Pakistan. Senior MQM Pakistan figures, including Dr. Farooq Sattar and Ameen Ul Haque, along with members of the party”s Central Coordination Committee, were also in attendance.
Discussions centred on ensuring effective cleanliness measures throughout the city and the equitable provision of food aid to deserving families. The Sindh Governor underscored that delivering maximum support to the populace must be the foremost priority, instructing all relevant departments to ensure close collaboration.
Attendees at the meeting formally requested the Governor to continue the practice of hosting public Sehr and Iftar gatherings at Governor House, a tradition observed in previous years.
A proposal was also tabled to convene a conference of all Karachi stakeholders on 14 February, followed by a public gathering on 15 February to commemorate the victims of the Gul Plaza tragedy and the Tarlai Kalan, Islamabad incident.
Dr Siddiqui and other participants acknowledged the Sindh Governor”s performance over the past three years, specifically referencing his public welfare programmes, IT schemes, and food distribution efforts.
The meeting concluded with a pledge from all parties to work in a coordinated manner to ensure residents receive comprehensive facilities and support during the upcoming fasting month.
