Pakistan’s Olympic javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem clinched the gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championship on Friday, recording a leading throw of 86.40 metres to top the men’s javelin final.

The victory reinforces Nadeem’s status as a premier athlete in the region and adds another international gold to his growing list of accolades. His throw placed him ahead of India’s Sachin Yadav, who secured silver with 85.16 metres, and Japan’s Yuta Sakiyama, who claimed bronze with 83.75 metres.

This win marks a significant achievement for Pakistan in the field of athletics, coming from a sport in which the country has seen limited international success. Nadeem, who had previously earned global recognition with his performance at the Olympics, once again demonstrated his consistency and resilience on the continental stage.

Alongside Nadeem, fellow Pakistani javelin thrower Muhammad Yasir registered throws of 70.53 and 75.39 metres but did not place on the podium.

Expressing his gratitude following the event, Nadeem stated on his official X (formerly Twitter) account: ‘Another GOLD for Pakistan! Alhamdulillah! This victory belongs to the Almighty first-His blessings, His will. Without His grace, none of this would be possible.’ He also acknowledged the support of his coaches, family, and supporters, adding: ‘Let’s keep rising for our beloved nation! Insha’Allah, more to come.’

The result further boosts Pakistan’s visibility in Asian athletics and is expected to inspire continued investment and interest in track and field events. Looking ahead, Nadeem is likely to be a key figure in Pakistan’s preparations for upcoming international competitions, including the Olympics and World Championships.
