A 23-year-old, Rizwan son of Liaqat, drowned while fishing in the Lower Bari Doab Canal near Okara today. Rescue personnel are carrying out a search and recovery operation. Initial reports suggest the young man drowned in the canal near Crown City. His relatives confirmed he was fishing at the time of the incident. Upon receiving the information, emergency services including motorcycles, ambulances, rescue units, and firefighters were dispatched to the scene. Rescue personnel reached the canal and started the search operation through various methods including boats, plungers, and scuba divers.
