National criminal will never get an NRO: Maryam

Lahore:Vice-president Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Maryam Nawaz on Thursday said that a national criminal will never get an NRO.

In her message on Twitter, Maryam said that if the overthrow of PM Imran Khan’s government is an international conspiracy, then why is premier Imran participating in a conspiracy against himself and demanding NRO from the opposition?

She stated that PM Imran Khan’s drama identifies the fear of crimes that will come in light after losing power. “A national criminal will never get the NRO,” she stated.

Two TLP leaders acquitted in provocative speeches case

Lahore:An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore Thursday acquitted two Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) leaders in provocative speeches case. TLP leaders including Syed Zaheer ul Hassan and Allama Farooqui Hassan were acquitted by the court. The TLP lawyers — Shehzad Bhatti, Saleem Malik and Isra Chaudhry — presented their arguments in the court.

ATC judge Ijaz Ahmed Butter pronounced the verdict, acquitting the TLP leaders who had been booked for delivering provocative speeches. Other accused including Allama Ghulam Abbas, Pir Qari Mehmood, Muhammad Umair and Dr Shafiq were still pro-claimed offenders in the case.

Sehat Card scheme extended across Punjab

Lahore:The Punjab Health Department on Thursday announced that Sehat Card scheme has been extended across the Punjab province as promised by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

According to data provided by Punjab Health Department, over one million people have so far been benefited from Sehat Card across the province. The provincial government had issued Sehat Insaf Cards to more than 5.1 million families in the first phase of the programme.

The Government of Pakistan launched the Sehat Insaf Card to provide free-of-cost medical services to low-income and poor households and covers medical bills up to Rs1 million annually.

The Sehat scheme, first launched by the ruling party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in 2016, was extended to the federal capital, Punjab, and Gilgit-Baltistan in 2021.

Two accused of murder case escapes from high court

LAHORE:Two accused of a murder case escaped from the Lahore High Court (LHC) premises after the high court judge rejected their interim bail plea on Tuesday.

The accused Hamza and Altaf fled from the LHC premises in front of the police personnel. Sahiwal Police had registered an FIR against both the accused. The police have started search for the fleeing accused.

It may be noted that a week ago, two women drug peddlers allegedly from Punjab managed to escape from a women police station in Dadu district of Sindh. Both the accused were arrested for selling drugs. When the escape incident occurred, two male and a female constable were on duty at the police station.

Opposition also submits no-confidence motion against Punjab CM

LAHORE:The opposition parties also submitted a no-confidence motion against PTI-led Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar in the Punjab Assembly Secretariat on Monday, creating a political polarization in the country.

Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervez Elahi is bound to summon the assembly session within 14 days after the submission of the motion. However, the chief minister cannot dissolve the provincial assembly once the motion is submitted. CM Buzdar needs support of 182 members out of total 371 lawmakers to foil no-trust move against him.

MPAs Rana Mashood and Samiullah Khan submitted the motion. A total of 127 lawmakers had signed the no-trust motion while 120 had signed the requisition notice. PTI has 183 MPAs in the Punjab Assembly followed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) 165, PML-Q 10 members and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) seven members while there are seven independents members that may be lured to the opposition.

The total strength of PML-N and PPP in the Punjab Assembly stands at 172 while PML-Q gave the decision making power to provincial assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi pertaining to no-trust move. Reportedly, PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif has accepted the condition of PML-Q for Punjab chief minister slot in order to get latter’s support for no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Talking to journalists, MPA Rana Mashood said that CM Buzdar and Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan have limited days left in the office due to the no-confidence motion filed against them. The MPA also said that there has been bad governance and record corruption in the province. He added: “Now is the time to hold Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) accountable for their wrongdoings.”

The spokesperson of the Punjab government and special assistant to CM Usman Buzdar has said that the provincial government would strongly fight the opposition’s no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Buzdar. Spokesperson Hasan Khawar said that the chief minister was in constant touch with the Punjab Assembly members and enjoyed full confidence of his MPAs.

PTI workers scuffle with traffic wardens in Lahore

LAHORE:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers Sunday allegedly scuffled with traffic police officials after they stopped the vehicle they were travelling in at Gulberg’s Main Boulevard on Sunday.

It is reported that an altercation took place between the traffic wardens and the PTI workers which shortly turned into a scuffle after both sides exchanged heated arguments.

The traffic wardens had stopped the vehicle of the PTI workers at Main Boulevard, Gulberg which is stated to be the reason behind the brawl. It is to be noted here that the workers of different political parties are witnessed roaming across the city roads amid calls of protest by their leadership.

Minister Yasmeen calls on Punjab CM

LAHORE:Provincial Health Minister Yasmeen Rashid called on Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar at CM’s Office today and apprised him about the various ongoing projects regarding provision of quality health services to the people of the province.

The Chief Minister directed the early completion of these projects and said that work has been started on setting up new emergency block and trauma centres at Ferozepur Road and in Jinnah hospital. He said that foundation stone of the emergency block and trauma centre will soon be laid in Services hospital as well. Usman Buzdar said that setting up of three emergency blocks and trauma centres in Lahore will increase the number of 800 beds in the health sector.

He said that Rs. 400 billion are being spent on Universal Health Insurance Programme and by 31st March every family of Punjab could get benefit from free of cost health care facilities upto ten lakh annually from this scheme. He termed Universal Health Insurance Programme an historic welfare project of the PTI government. He further maintained that the University of Child Health Sciences will prove to be a state-of-the-art institute in diagnosing and providing healthcare facilities to children.

The setting up of the University of Child Health Sciences will promote research and development in diagnosing children’s diseases besides providing quality healthcare facilities to them. Usman Buzdar said in order to provide relief to the people, the projects under District Hospitals and Health Care Centers should be completed at the earliest and work on Mother and Child Hospital projects should also be expedited. He said that transparency and quality in these projects of the health sector should be ensured. The Principal Secretary to CM and secretary specialized healthcare and medical education were also present on this occasion.
