IGP orders strict security for Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar Urs

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Dr Kaleem Imam on Sunday directed the high-ups of the police to adopt strict security measures on the eve of three-day annual Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.

The IGP instructed the police officials to strengthen security along all major highways of Sindh province, including border areas and entry exit points, as a large number of devotees from other provinces and cities of the country is expected to participate in the Urs.

He instructed for strict surveillance and patrolling at police station level throughout the province. Dr Kaleem further directed concerned police officials to ensure strict security at the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar and its surrounding areas besides coordinating with organizers.

He ordered the police to get clearance of the shrine premises from Bomb Disposal Squad and ensure intelligence collection at all levels. A strategy should be devised according to which the parking of vehicles should be prohibited on the roads leading to the shrine while proper parking places should be reserved for devotees.

The IGP also directed the relevant SSPs and SHOs to monitor the security measures of the Urs from start to end by themselves and ensure provision of all required facilities to the deployed police officers and personnel.

He strictly ordered to note down the entry of all participants devotees during the event.
