Confiscated drugs torched to mark Customs Day

  GWADAR: Customs Gwadar set ablaze confiscated drugs worth millions of rupees at a function at Nalibut area of Pasni in district Gwadar of Balochistan province on Thursday to mark the Customs Day. In order to mark the Customs Day, confiscated drugs amounting to millions of rupees were set ablaze at a function held at Nalibut area of Pasni in district Gwadar. On the occasion, Collector Customs, Raza Dashti, Additional Collector, Shoukat Hayat, Deputy Collector, Wahab Sagheer, Deputy Collector, Muhammad Bakht, Judicial Magistrate, Gwadar, Muhammad Murad, Lt: Hassan Cheema of Pakistan Navy Gwadar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Gwadar, Tariq Saleem, Assistant Protection Officer, Pakistan Coast Guard, Majid Mubarak and others were also present.

Balochistan CM shocked over rising deaths in gas leakage incident

  QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, while expressing grave concern over the rising death tolls in Quetta city due to gas related incidents, has demanded federal government to take notice of the irresponsible behaviour of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat here on Wednesday. He said that low gas pressure had placed the lives of the citizens of Quetta city in jeopardy, adding that more than ten people had so far lost their lives in different gas related incidents during the last few days. Bizenjo said that gas facilities in extreme cold weather was not available to the citizens, adding that Balochistan had been catering to the gas requirements of the country for the last many years. Court reserves verdict on CM-others’ pleas in power plant case

  ISLAMABAD: An accountability court in Islamabad on Wednesday reserved its verdict on the acquittal pleas filed by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and others in the Nooriabad Power Plant reference. The accountability court will announce its reserved verdict on February 15. AC Judge Muhammad Bashir heard the case. At the outset of the hearing, a petition was submitted on behalf of Sindh CM Shah seeking his exemption from the court appearance for today. The NAB opposed the acquittal pleas and dismissal of the reference. The NAB prosecutor said that in the light of the Islamabad High Court judgment, the reference could not be sent back to the NAB. As per the IHC decision, the proper forum where the reference could be sent is Anti-Corruption Court, Karachi, the prosecutor added. ...

Several secretaries, DCs changed in Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab government has made reshuffle in bureaucracy, transferring and posting many secretaries and deputy commissioners, it emerged on Wednesday. Secretary C and W Asif Bilal Lodhi has been made OSD. Nadeem Sarwar has been removed as DG Anti-Corruption. Muhammad Zaman Wattoo has been assigned additional charge of DG Anti-Corruption. Secretary Social Welfare Mehar Muhammad Hayat Luck has been made OSD while Secretary Literacy Wajiullah Kundi will be holding additional charge of secretary social welfare. Man shot dead in Katvinadi area

LORALAI: A man was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Katvinadi area of district Loralai in Balochistan province on Wednesday. According to rescue sources, one man, identified as Muhammad Jumma Taraki son of Abdul Samad Taraki, resident of Loralai was gunned down by unidentified armed men in Kayvinadi area of Loralai. The body was taken to Civil Hospital, Loralai and later handed over to the heirs after fulfilling necessary medico-legal formalities. The assailants managed to escape after committing the crime. First Information Report (FIR) of the incident was lodged at Police Station, Loralai. The incident has created a mourning atmosphere in the victim’s home.
