SHIKARPUR:,,, A cotton shop was gutted in a fire in Dadwai road area within the precincts of Stuart Gunj police station here on Wednesday.
According to rescue sources, the fire broke out due to short-circuit at the shop of Yameen Shaikh in the city that reduced cotton and other material to ashes. A fire brigade vehicle, as usual, reached the site of the incident late, which caused more loss to the shop. However, it succeeded in putting off the fire.
The shopkeeper burst into tears over the fire loss, and appealed to the Sindh government to provide financial support to cover the loss amid price hike era. He said that the fire had caused Rs800,000 loss which was unbearable.
