12 robbers among 26 criminals nabbed in police crackdown

KARACHI: Karachi police on Thursday claimed to have arrested 26 criminals, including 12 street criminals, from different areas of the metropolis.

According to police sources, different police teams carried out search operations in Korangi, Gulberg, Zaman town and Saeedabad areas, and apprehended 12 street criminals including Ahsan Ali, Junaid, Sultan, Junaid, Nasir, Ahtesham, Waqar, Vicky, Mithal Khan, Abbas, Sudheer and Mohammad Ramzan. They also recovered one repeater, five TT pistols and snatched cell phones from their possession.

Separately, police nabbed six motorcycle lifters from Eidgah, Korangi and Surjani areas. The accused were identified as Hanif, Umer Saeed, Zahid, Aqeel, Zamer, Ejaz. The police also recovered five stolen bikes, 23 snatched mobile phones, two wallets, two watches, Rs 4600 cash and three illegal weapons from them.

Mochko police arrested an oil tanker driver, Mohammad Haleem, son of Abdur Rehman, and seized 40,000 liters of smuggled Iranian diesel from their possession.

During crackdown on drug peddlers, police conducted search operations in Shershah, Madina Colony and Ittehad town, and detained seven drug peddlers Barkat, Abdul Baqi, Faisal, Asif, Adnan, Aamir, Khamees Khan and recovered a huge quantity of hashish, 13 shopping bags of gutka and wine from their possession.
