2 angiography machines of NICVD Center Larkana non-functional

LARKANA:Two angiography machines installed at NICVD Satellite Center established in Chandka Medical College Hospital have been out of order for over a week due to which cardiac patients are either being referred to Sukkur, Khairpur or Karachi centers for treatment and further management or kept on waiting list.

In this connection, sources said that no efforts have so far been made to get the machines repaired for unknown reasons despite allocation of huge funds.

Sources further claimed that government was waiting for the federal government’s decision about the fate of three major hospitals including NICVD which have now been officially handed over to Sindh Government after the cabinet decision as the federal government has expressed its inability to run these major health care facilities owing to financial crisis.

This satellite center was inaugurated by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari two years ago in July 2017 and since then many poor patients of many districts and nearby provinces have been treated in it, free of cost.

In this connection Assistant Professor of Cardiology, Dr. Fayaz Mujtaba Shah, told this scribe on Sunday that machines have developed some minor problems for which the suppliers have been approached to get them repaired. He said we have our own system and emergency patients are either shifted to Sukkur or Khairpur through our own ambulance services. He hoped that soon the machines will be made functional and angiography will be carried out in Larkana center.
