KARACHI:A Press Conference was held at Avari Towers, to announce the 2nd CAS International Open Sailing Championship- 2019. Air Commodore Sabih Wali-ur-Rehman, Officer Commanding Training Wing, PAF Base, Korangi Creek who is also President PAF Yacht Club presided the conference. A large number of media officials were present on this occasion.
This event is being organized from 23-27 July, 2019 at PAF Yacht Club. This club is the best venue for sailing in Pakistan and it has a great history. This club was established in 1928 as Royal Boating Club and after Independence, it was renamed as PAF Sailing Club then as PAF Yacht Club. With this history of sailing, the sailors of PAF are consistently bringing laurels in the Sailing event not only at National but also at International level.
To further promote sailing in Pakistan this Championship has been announced, in which sixteen countries (including Pakistan Sailing Team) have confirmed their participation, with total 72 players ladies/gents/optimist sailors. The jury include 03 International judges from Greece, Croatia, Belgium and 02 International Race Officers from Greece and Tunisia. The technical aspect is being looked after by Pakistan’s renowned sailing official Capt (Retd) A R Arshad, who is also Race Officer from Pakistan with Wing Commander Adeel Aslam Khan, Gen Secy Paf Yacht club.
PAF Yacht club has conducted 15 sailing courses during last one year (all categories) in collaboration with Pakistan Youth Sailing Association. PAF Yacht Club is affiliated with “Pakistan Sailing Association Federation”, for marketing the 2nd CAS International Open Sailing Championship – 2019. PSAF has also been involved with PAF to promote different sports events.
